Hypothermia Prevention Shelter
On Thursdays, through March 28, we are providing homemade dinners for the hypothermia shelter.
There is still time to donate prizes for BINGO, an activity in which the Shelter residents take part. Please turn in donations by March 24.
-clothing: socks, rain ponchos, lightweight leggings
-small gift cards
-toiletries: small moisturizer, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, chapstick
-small flashlights with batteries
Embry Rucker Community Shelter
There are various volunteer activities throughout the year to be involved with the shelter located in Reston.
Helping Hungry Kids of Northern Virginia Fundraiser: Enjoy yummy food and support Helping Hungry Kids by eating at Not Your Average Joe's any Tuesday in March. Have 15% of your bill donated simply by mentioning to your server that you are there to support Helping Hungry Kids.
We are committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the students and faculty at Lake Anne Elementary School, which is located right next to us.
Homework Club is an after-school tutoring and mentoring program in which volunteers assist students with their homework. Interested in building a long-term relationship with the students? Learn more.

If you want to work with Lake Anne students but aren't able to be a part of Homework Club, there are many other ways for you to serve: assist in the school library, read with a child and other mentoring opportunities. Contact us to get involved.

Cornerstones & Helping Hungry Kids
On the first Sunday of each month, we collect food items to donate to Cornerstones Food Pantry and Helping Hungry Kids, which provides food for elementary-school children. View list of needed items.
Reusable Totes: Cornerstones' Food Pantry is seeking donation of reusable totes in a continuing effort to reduce plastic waste. Donations can be dropped off at the Pantry.
We collect clothing items for the non-profit thrift store, The Closet, located in Herndon. Volunteers sort, label and price gently used toys and household items.
UCP participates in Works Sunday, an annual interfaith service event featuring over 15 service opportunities throughout July and August.
