The Church has never closed. We may have stopped worshiping in our building to protect the health and well-being of our people and our community, but we never stop doing ministry. The Church does not require a building in order to be the Church. What is required is love, compassion and the presence of God in our everyday experiences.
The 2020 Summer Worship Series has the theme, “The Church Has Left the Building.” In Matthew 16:17-19, Jesus proclaims that Peter’s confession is foundational for the principles, promises, and power of God’s church. The church isn’t Papal Succession, pastoral power, individual significance, nor inordinate edifice. The church is presence, promise, and power of the risen Christ realized in the lives of his followers, (Mt. 16:17-19). Like the God’s people who gathered in Jerusalem at Pentecost in Jerusalem, the Church building provides Jesus’ followers with a place to gather for worship, organizing and actualizing its calling as a community belonging to Jesus. The church is not the building, it is the people devoted in discipleship to the risen Christ.
We invite you to an unite together through online worship every Sunday at 10 AM. If you wish to be a part of our online services by reading the Call to Worship, Prayer of Confession or the Scripture, sign up here.
As our ministry continues outside the walls of our building, it continues past Sunday mornings too. We continue to be the church through our continued commitment to justice and peace, serving the community, social distancing fellowship and being in digital ministry in ways unlike ever before.
