Connect Digitally

Being the Church

Church is not defined by a building. It is not brick and mortar. It is the Body of Christ. The people are church. Church is living a life committed to God and spreading Christ's love no matter where we are. In this time of physical distancing, we are not isolated from each other. We as a church community and as individuals will not stop doing ministry, no matter where we are. Below are ways to connect and engage virtually:

Online Worship, Sundays, 10 AM

In order to safeguard the health of the community and for all people, we won't be meeting in-person for awhile. But, worship is still happening-we continue to share the good news, to spread the amazing grace of God and unite through the love of Christ. Be a part of worship:

  • Facebook: Worship will be premiered on our Facebook Page at 10 AM. Here, we will be connecting and engaging virtually. We welcome everyone to worship together.

  • Website: You can also worship on our website by visiting ucpreston.org/online-worship.

  • YouTube: The service will also be on our YouTube channel.

Services are available on all three platforms for later viewing.

Small Groups Online

Bible Study & Small Groups via ZOOM

Weekly Bible Study and Small Groups are meeting through ZOOM, an online meeting platform. Contact Pastor Beth to receive a ZOOM invite to the Wednesday or Thursday morning Bible Study. Contact Heidi to schedule a ZOOM meeting for your small group.

Facebook Groups
Facebook Groups are a place for continued conversation and discussion. If you or your small group are interested in setting up a Facebook Group, contact Kate.

Virtual Fellowship

Sundays, 10:45 AM
Come as you are! This is a time to share together with no specific agenda, just fellowship. The Zoom link will be provided in the weekly email and in the chat box on Facebook on Sunday morning. All welcome! If you are new to United Christian Parish, this is wonderful opportunity to meet one of our Pastors and others.

Prayer & Pastoral Care

Participate in intercessory prayer over the phone on Fridays, 11:30 AM. Contact Pastor Marcus to receive the phone number and access code to dial in. All are welcome.

Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School (via Zoom), Sundays, 11:15 AM, resumes September 20
Adults can participate in one of two classes:
1. Faith and Racial Justice: Changing Systems and Structures
2. Bible 101: Following the Narrative Lectionary through God's Word

Click here to Zoom in on Sunday mornings.

Children & Youth Ministry

Children's Sunday School
We are excited for the opportunity for children to grow in their faith and be in ministry together virtually:

God Play, Sundays, 9:30 AM, ongoing
Children of all ages experience the mystery of God in story and activity.

Bible Explorers, Sundays, 10:45-11:15 AM, begins September 20
Students explore the sweeping story of God and God's people as revealed in the Bible. They learn the story of God's love in Scripture through the same stories that they hear in worship.

Email Pastor Beth to have your children part of online Kids' Ministry.

Youth Group, Sundays, 7 PM, begins September 13
Through games, discussion on global issues and exploring the Christian implications of the world in which we are growing up, middle and high school students celebrate the richness of Christ in our lives. Contact Pastor Beth for more information.

Justice & Peace Ministry

In a time marked by a heightened sense of awareness of our nations history of systemic racism, we stand in our commitment to justice. You are invited to explore how we are responding by clicking here.

Online Meetings

Do you lead a ministry? Schedule your monthly meetings via ZOOM. Email Heidi to schedule. If you still have questions about ZOOM, instructions are available here.

Support the Community

We are committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the students and faculty at Lake Anne Elementary School. Although school will look a little different this year, supplies are still needed! This year, Lake Anne ES requests the following donations:
  • Watercolor pallets
  • Boxes of crayons & colored pencils
  • Pencil sharpeners
  • Erasers

Drop off donations on Wednesdays September 9, 16, 23 & 30, from 9 AM-1 PM. We are using an abundance of caution in our drop off procedure. Donations will be collected in Room 107 (the former Sanctuary). The outside door entrance to drop off donations is towards the back of the parking lot. It will be unlocked and marked with a sign to direct you. Please do not make extra store trips for this. You can always order your donations online. If you would rather not deliver in person, please contact Ray Whitney, Annerieke Owen or Debbie Aschenbach.
