All of these words define the concept of hygge, our Advent theme.
Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) is a Danish word that actually has no literal translation in English. It is a sense of comfort, togetherness and well-being. It is about being with the people we love, a feeling of home, slowing down to celebrate the little moments in every day and creating feelings of warmth and happiness. It is sitting by a warm fire, reading a good book under a warm blanket, being grateful for all the good things, connecting with nature and connecting with family and friends. Advent is the perfect season to practice hygge as we await the coming of Jesus to welcome us into his eternal hygge. So this Advent season we invite you to live a hygge life - to find peace and rest through the storms and chaos, to be content with what you have and to find meaning in every day.
It is our hope that through worship, special events and being in fellowship with one another that you will experience the peaceful and grace-filled feelings of hygge that can change your life!
