Journey through lent with united christian parish

This year, Lent begins on February 14 and runs through March 30. Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent is when we as Christians focus on Jesus’s journey to the cross and ultimately the resurrection we celebrate on Easter Sunday.

Join us for worship each Sunday during Lent at 10 AM, or explore some other opportunities for you to engage this Lent below.

MESSAGE Series: Wandering Heart

This Lent, we are focusing on the life and faith of one of Jesus’ most famous disciples. In Peter, we see a person who is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and a betrayer, a follower and a wanderer. In Peter, we often see ourselves. By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a normal human trying to figure it all out – just like we are.

As we wander, may we rest in streams of mercy, never ceasing. Join us for worship Sundays at 10 AM.

LENT DEVOTIONS

To take this journey together, we have a Lent devotional with scripture readings and questions for reflection. Printed copies are available outside the sanctuary or follow along with our digital version by clicking on the button below.

Thursday SUPPERs

Lenten soup suppers are a simple meal shared with others. Soup suppers seek to be a meaningful part of your Lenten journey toward a deeper faith and fuller life in Christ. Simply come as you are and attend as able.

Meet in room 116 on Thursdays, February 22-March 21, 6 PM.

LENTen Study: FINDING JESUS IN THE PSALMS

Barb Roose guides the reader through a meaningful encounter with the Psalms through the season of Lent. Combining an interpretation of the psalms with real life stories, the study moves through the familiar words of Psalm 23 toward the painful cries of Psalm 22 uttered by Jesus on the cross. The study includes reflections on the life of King David and the original context of the writings, along with connections between the psalms and the life and death of Jesus the Messiah.

Join in room 113 or on Zoom on Thursdays, February 22-March 21 at 7:30 PM.

Lenten MEditation

Seek God through prayer and meditation on and expect to experience the benefits of taking time to intentionally focus on God.

Gather in room 117 or on Zoom on Thursdays at 7:30 PM.

BIBLE STUDY

The cross is the central symbol of the Christian faith. But what exactly did Jesus do to save us from our sins? Why was the cross necessary, and what does it mean for us today? Delve deeper into these questions with a study on Magrey deVega’s book Savior: What the Bible Says About the Cross.
Bible Study meets Wednesdays, February 14-March 27, 10 AM, on Zoom. We’d love to get you a copy of the book so you can study along with us. Contact us if you would like a book.
