Journey through lent with united christian parish

This year, Lent begins on March 5 and runs through April 19. Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent is when we as Christians focus on Jesus’s journey to the cross and ultimately the resurrection we celebrate on Easter Sunday.

Join us for worship each Sunday during Lent at 10 AM, or explore some other opportunities for you to engage this Lent below.

MESSAGE Series: Everything [In] Between

This series is an invitation to navigate the polarities in our lives with more faith, intention, and openness to be transformed. Each weekly sub-theme explores two supposed binaries, like “faith & works” or “rest & growth,” or “grief & hope.” We often consider these ideas to be opposing. However, as we explore these concepts within the scriptures, we find nuance and complexity. We find that these dichotomies are false. We might begin to see a full spectrum instead of black and white. We might find that God is present in between.

This theme may resonate with anyone who is in discernment or trying to find their way through an undefined space. It will speak to anyone who feels as if they are living in a divided world. It is for those who seek a spiritual life that engages with complexity instead of avoiding it. This Lent, we're trusting that God shows up in shades of gray, rainbow hues, and everywhere in between.

Join us for worship Sundays at 10 AM.

BIBLE STUDY

When Jesus taught in parables, he was doing more than telling simple morality tales. His stories were grounded in the world in which he lived and his vision of the Kingdom of God. Our Lent Bible Study will explore six parables using Parables: Putting Jesus's Stories in Their Place by Josh Scott. This book what these parables might mean for us today. Parables include: the New Wine and Wineskins, the Mustard Seed, the Leaven, the Wedding Party, the Workers in the Vineyard, and the Wicked Tenants. Bible Study meets on Zoom and on Zoom. On the first Wednesday of the month, attend in room 117 or on Zoom.
Bible Study meets Wednesdays, March 5-April 16 , 10 AM, on Zoom. We’d love to get you a copy of the book so you can study along with us. Contact us if you would like a book.
