Serving at United Christian Parish is a great way to meet people, learn something new, and contribute to the life of your church! Most importantly, it's how we create deeper connections with God and each other. United Christian Parish has serving opportunities for your unique gifts, talents and availability.

Serve the Church Opportunities


  • Use your administrative skills like answering phones and emails, data entry and placing orders.

    Crisis Fund Team: Emailing with and/or field phone calls from those seeking financial aid until the aid is granted.

    Database Entry: Enter guest contact info into our church database and email info for appropriate follow-up.

    Monthly Recording of Pastor's Expenses: One volunteer needed around the 10th to take credit card statements and receipts and fill out the spreadsheet of line items.

    Office Reception: Support our Administrator by answering calls to provide care and prayer for our church family, receiving packages, and greeting staff and guests. Training is provided.

    Flower Orders: Serve our office by tracking donors and documenting who donated flowers in memory/honor of whom. One volunteer is needed for Easter flowers and one volunteer is needed in December to track Christmas Eve poinsettias.
    Skills: good spelling and attention to detail

    Scanning, Filing & Mailing: Scan old documents in file cabinets and organize digital files. Volunteers are also needed to scan pages of official church record books and to mail the monthly Parish Life.

  • Serving the church creatively allows Christians to use their unique talents and gifts to glorify God and to spread the message of love and faith in innovative ways. By serving creatively, you can bring a fresh perspective and foster a deeper connection with God and fellow believers.

    Photographer: Capture the active life at United Christian Parish during worship and events.
    Skills: Use creativity and technical skills to capture those moments. Having your own equipment is a plus, but not required.
    Perks: Great opportunity to build your photography portfolio, see your photos on our website and social media accounts!

    Storyteller: We want to celebrate what God is doing at United Christian Parish. Storytellers help us to share stories of God’s work being done at UCP by writing questions, interviewing people or sharing their own personal story. Stories are shared on social media, in our newsletters and on our website.

    Writer: Craft compelling stories, share personal stories of reflection or devotion by writing for Parish Life monthly publication.

  • Help us stay incredibly organized.

    Closet Clean-Ups: Help keep our closets free of clutter! Closet cleans-ups are done for two days twice a year in January and in May from 9 AM-12 PM.

    Sort Upper Closets: Strong people are wanted to bring down boxes of old financial files to be shredded.

  • Our desire is for our guests to feel loved by Jesus. We are completely devoted to being the most welcoming church around.

    Onsite Greeter: Provide a warm welcome on Sunday mornings to those who are worshiping on-site. Greeters are available to answer questions guests may have. Greeters may serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
    Skills: Must be approachable and friendly.

    Online Greeter: Greeters support the Online Moderator in welcoming those who are worshiping online. Online Greeters may serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

    Usher: Ushers help with seating, dismissal, communion, and help Sunday morning worshipers find what they are looking for.
    Skills: Ushers love Jesus, people and our church!

  • Do you prefer to work behind the scenes? Setup/take-down volunteers are vital to our ministry! Help make our space ready for worship, learning, and fellowship. 

    Event Setup/Take-down: Help set up for various events throughout the year. Includes moving furniture, decorating, setting up food and cleaning.

    Prayer Stations: Converting multi-use spaces for prayer stations is one way you can make a difference.
    February/March: Ash Wednesday Prayer Stations
    March/April: Holy Week Prayer Stations

  • Our Sunday services are powered by people serving various capacities. You can help make worship beautiful, approachable, and meaningful, each and every week.

    Altar Guild: Play a key role in creating and maintaining the beauty that helps us enter into worship and connect with the presence of God. Altar guilds arrange flowers, care for linens, fabrics and assure that our worship space is as beautiful as possible.

    Audio Tech: Audio techs are needed to support Sunday morning services and events throughout the year. Training is provided.
    Skills: A willingness to learn.

    Communion Steward: Care for our church community by preparing communion once a month. Contact: Jann.

    Liturgist: Every Sunday a liturgist assists the pastor in leading worship. All readings and prayers are supplied to the liturgist by email, so this job is well-coordinated.  You can choose which service you serve. 
    Perk: You have the best seat in the sanctuary!

    Teleprompter Tech: Support hybrid services by running the teleprompter. The text will already be entered into the system, so this role focuses on running it live during the service. No experience required, any necessary training will be provided. Teleprompter tech serves weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
    Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to focus.

    Vocalist or Instrumentalist: Serve on the platform for weekend services or special events by playing or singing music.
    Skills: Being musical is important.
    Perks: Great opportunity to practice your skills and expand your musical experience.

  • By serving with United Christian Parish Kids (birth-grade 5), you can nurture young minds, help shape the next generation in a positive way and provide a safe environment that allows children to experience Jesus.

    Children’s Sunday School Teacher: Assist in the spiritual formation of children by teaching in Godly Play or Bible Explorers. Teachers may serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
    Skills: A passion for leading kids to know Jesus.
    Perks: You make a direct impact in children’s lives and get to have fun while doing so!

    Vacation Bible School Volunteers: Each summer we offer a week long Vacation Bible School experience for children ages 4-grade 5. Opportunities to serve at VBS each summer are plentiful!

    Readers: United Christian Parish Preschool seeks volunteers to read to the preschool children during the school day.

  • United Christian Parish Youth is designed to connect students (grades 6-12) to Christ and to community. By serving with United Christian Parish Youth, you offer mentorship, support young students in their faith journey, and help develop strong moral character and values in the youth.

    Youth Leaders: Youth leaders help lead youth gatherings, including Sunday Youth Group.
    Skills: A desire to work with middle and high school students to see them live a committed life to Christ.
    Perks: Have the opportunity to go on fun retreats and/or day trips.

  • Your planning and preparation can do amazing things for our worship experience. Support the minister and the worship ministry with planning throughout the liturgical year.

    January
    Lent Planning: Support the pastor by brainstorming ideas and planning for Lent.

    February-March
    Sermon Series Planning for after Easter: Support the pastor by brainstorming ideas and planning for the sermon series that will begin after Easter.

    April
    Pentecost Planning: Two-four volunteers are wanted to plan one of UCP's biggest services of the year. Plan for about two planning meetings.

    Summer Series Planning: Assist with planning the summer sermon series.

    May
    Recognition of Service Sunday Planning: Assist with planning the June worship service in which we recognize those who have served in the past year. Expect to attend two meetings.

    September
    Advent Planning: Assist the pastor with planning for Advent. Expect to attend two planning meetings.

    Serve on the Stewardship Team: The Stewardship Team works to develop a culture of generosity and the practice of taking care of what is loved at United Christian Parish. Team members support the annual pledge drive and our stewardship worship series. The team meets twice in late summer.
