Music
Music is one of the primary means by which we worship, love and serve Christ. UCP’s worship features both traditional and contemporary music. On any given Sunday, expect to hear music from on of our music groups mentioned below.
United Christian Parish Music
ADULT CHOIR
Seraphim, UCP’s Adult Choir, adds a vital dimension to worship through traditional and non-traditional vocal music. Seraphim is open to all singers 18 and older.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Our Children’s Choir, Genesis Choir, sings monthly in worship. The Genesis Choir is for children first-fifth grade to learn music, song and creative expression.
GOSPEL CHOIR
UCP’s Gospel Choir offers musical witness in support of the worship and cultural ministries. The Gospel Choir is open to singers of all ages.
LITURGICAL DANCE
Through music and movement, UCP’s dance ensemble, Total Praise, conveys that praising God is a joyful experience that unites the soul, mind and body.
PRAISE BAND
UCPraise! is a vocal/instrumental band that plays contemporary Christian music on Sunday mornings. It welcomes singers and instrumentalists of all ages.
HANDBELLS
Ringers participate in worship one a month and on special occasions. UCP’s Handbell Choir, Tintinnabulation, welcomes ringers of all abilities.
MEET UCP’S MUSIC DIRECTOR: MISHA TUMANOV
Misha was born in Ukraine and moved to Costa Rica at the age of six, where he started his musical education with Alexandr Sklioutovsky. He has earned a B.M. in piano performance and pedagogy at the National University of Costa Rica, a M.M. in piano performance at Ball State University in Indiana and a DMA from the University of Maryland.
Join a Music Group
The music groups of United Christian Parish consist of volunteers that desire to use the unique gifts that they have been given to lift the name of Jesus and assist the church body in lifting their hearts and voices in praise to God. Groups welcome musicians of all abilities and new members throughout the year. If you are interested in joining a group, let us know!
